Play dates and real dates

We went on several dates this month, 2 of them were family dates and one was a date for just Tom and me.

Our first family date was to Alexandria to eat Chinese food, which Aubrey normally likes, but on this night she didn't want anything to do with it. Instead of eating she wanted to get down and go play with the fish in the fish tank and Ella Kate was mad because she was sitting in her car seat(she hates her car seat). We finally got to eat by laying Ella Kate down on the bench beside me and Aubrey sat in Ella Kate's car seat(she loves sitting in car seats). We left there and went to the mall to let Aubrey play at the play area while Ella Kate had a bottle. This went much smother than supper. After that we stopped at a new self serve yogurt shop and had a very yummy snack and both girls were happy there. Even though our date started out stressful and I had decided that we would not be eating out anymore it turned into a good night.

Our second family date was to the Monroe zoo. Neither Tom nor I had been to the Monroe zoo since we were little. When we pulled up to it we kinda questioned if it was even open because it looked pretty shabby. I thought oh well if nothing else we will just ride the train and go home. We walk up and the sign said Train closed,so much for that. As Tom was paying for our tickets I was thinking we could have possibly wasted our money, but I was pleasantly surprised once we got started. They had lots of animals and the animals were all out playing. Unlike the zoo we normally go to that is very pretty and always clean but you very seldom see anything other than birds and fish.

What no Train

"monkeying around"

They had a little petting zoo part that Aubrey really enjoyed

The monkeys were very entertaining, Aubrey is still talking about them "jumping in the trees" and "giving hugs"

Watching the tiger

This is the only picture that would show up of the hippo and it does no justice for how big it was. I admit I was afraid of it and how close it would get to us. Aubrey was kinda scared at first but then she thought it was funny that it would "blow his nose" and she liked that he "swims in water". She is also still taking about the hippo. One morning I told her to open her mouth wide so I could brush her teeth and she said "like the hippo".

"Simba" was taking a nap

This peacock made a noise and Aubrey said "aw he is hungry" then she tossed it some gumballs and said "here you go bird"

We left the Zoo and went across the road to a park to play. Aubrey had a great time playing, this park was way bigger than ours.

This slide had a hump in the middle of it and Aubrey would come all the way off of the slide when she would go over it

Tom and I even managed to have a "real" date this month. By real date I mean it didn't involve anything related to children, grocery shopping or a Dr appointment. We hadn't been on a real date since August. Momma and daddy watched the girls so we could have a just us date. We went to Hobby Lobby and I spent my Christmas money from Ms. Lori and Keith on 2 very pretty frames that I had been wanting. We went to Outback to eat then to Lowe's so that Tom could spend his Christmas money from moma and Daddy, he got a hand sander. We had a great time and hopefully we won't have to wait 5 months before our next one.

Snow"mams"

Aubrey calls snowmen snowmams, so last week we made snowmams out of cotton balls and pipe cleaners. Here are a few photo's of our fun craft time.

Growing girl

Ella Kate wore her fist 0-3 month outfit today. She is really growing these days and she smiles all the time. She is a very happy baby and cute! Aubrey loved her outfit she kept saying "oh siser you shirt is pretty" then said said "those are pinka dots" as in polka dots.

Bath time at the Greers

Whew I have just spent way to much time trying to catch up the blog on the month of December. The post are all in random order but I finally got caught up. Here is my last post of 2011 photo's.

This is how I bath the girls these days. Since Aubrey was always wanting to get in the tub while I bathed Ella Kate I decided to kill two birds with one stone. It makes for a pretty smooth and cute bath time.

Aubrey thinks Ella Kate needs toys in her bathtub too

She loves her bath

She thinks this is so funny, she says she is in her boat

Special Memory

This is my favorite picture and memory from Christmas! Part of the McClendon Christmas tradition is for one of the children, grandchildren or great grandchildren to read the Christmas story. This year was extra special because our niece Rachael read it. I am a very proud Aunt and think that pretty much everything she does is amazing but hearing her read the Christmas story melted my heart and it took all I had not to cry the whole time. I know that some of you reading this doesn't know the story of Rachael. When she was born 3 months early she weighed 1 lb 8oz. She is a true miracle child and an everyday reminder of how amazing God is. I admit that anything she reads it makes me happy, but hearing her our miracle child reading the story of the ultimate miracle child's birth was overwhelming.

Christmas Day

Our Christmas morning was pretty rushed because we accidentally over slept. So Aubrey got to play with her presents for about 10 minutes then we had to get ready for church. I recently discovered that I did not get any pictures of Ella Kate Christmas morning because she was asleep(Mother of the year). We had a wonderful church service then headed to West Monroe for Christmas with Mamiere and Granddaddy. We left there house around 9:30 that night and got to see several fireworks on our way home from different peoples houses. We had a very busy but a great Christmas and Christmas Eve.

Aubrey must have been a good girl because she got what she asked Santa to bring her...Lipstick
